With the New Year comes a new release of Fait-Main Wines: the 2014 Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, 2014 Sleeping Lady Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2015 Toyon Farm Chardonnay.
2014 was another dream vintage for Napa Valley. “Early” was the key word all season, from budbreak to veraison and harvest. Some restorative rain in late February and early March helped temper the severe drought conditions, and even temperatures through the summer allowed the grapes to ripen evenly without heat spikes or sunburn. Quality of fruit was exceptional, and despite the abundant vintages that preceded it, the crop load was still quite generous. Napa’s 6.0 earthquake on August 24 caused extensive damage to many wineries and other buildings, but our harvest continued with minimal disruption, thanks to community support and generosity.
The 2014 Fait-Main Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon shows beautiful interplay of fruit and structure, full-bodied with blackberry and blueberry notes, mineral backbone, and sumptuous complexity. The 2014 Fait-Main Bettinelli Sleeping Lady Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon presents an inky purple hue and elegant aromatics—ripe blue fruits, spring flowers, and a touch of tobacco. We also offer our 2015 Fait-Main Toyon Farm Chardonnay, a supple and generous wine whose round palate and apricot richness call to mind the great 2012 and 2013 vintages.
Thank you for your continued support of Fait-Main Wines. I wish you all the best in 2017.
