I am pleased to share with you our first two Cabernet Sauvignon wines from the dynamic 2022 vintage.
As the growing season unfolded, it appeared we might be in for another classic Napa vintage. The valley enjoyed plenty of much-needed winter rains and a temperate spring, which prompted an early budbreak and bloom, and greater canopy development than in 2021. A lengthy stretch of warm summer days shifted harvest dates much earlier than usual. In fact, we were fortunate to harvest before or during the first few days of the heat wave, as we source from early ripening sites, enabling us to achieve healthy fermentation and produce vibrant wines.
Our winter offering includes the 2022 Fait-Main Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, our second release of this hedonistic blue label Cab. Assembled with fruit from all of Fait-Main’s acclaimed single-vineyard sources, plus some exciting up-and-coming vineyards mostly from Calistoga, this wine exhibits aromas of savory black fruits, cassis, chocolate, and espresso that jump out of the glass. The palate delivers an opulent abundance of fruit and intricate complexity, with classic minerality surrounded by velvet tannins.
In addition, we are introducing our first single-vineyard offering from this vintage, the 2022 Fait-Main Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon. This Oakville site just south of To Kalon always produces wonderfully round, silky dark fruit, and our 2022 bottling is true to character. Great density and opacity, silken textures, impeccable balance, and incredible length. The nose brings complex notes of cassis, blackberry, chocolate, graphite, and a hint of tobacco leaf. On the palate, gorgeous fruit, smooth tannins, and perfect oak integration deliver an exceptionally elegant and savory wine.
